Why do I need to use 316 stainless steel for outdoor sinks and not 304 stainless steel?

316 is needed for outdoor sinks due to the anti rust factors of 316 stainless steel prevents it from rusting. Sinks by their very nature are exposed to water and having water sit in the sink will cause rust to quickly form on a 304 sink that is installed outdoors. Sinks are also more difficult to replace than most other appliances so you want to make sure you get the right product the first time and not have to worry about replacing a rusted out sink within a year or 2.

What makes 316 stainless steel more resistant to rust than 304?

Unlike 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel has about 2-5% molybdenum added to it which makes it much more resistant to rust.

How do I know what size sink I need?

You usually want your sink to be 3″ smaller than your cabinet. If your cabinet is 33″ wide then you can go with a 30″ sink or smaller.
