Description

The Coyote C3HY50LP is not a gas grill. It is not a charcoal grill. It is both, permanently installed side by side in a single 50-inch built-in format. The gas side delivers propane-powered I-Burner performance for fast, controlled weeknight cooking. The charcoal side accommodates lump charcoal or wood chips with an adjustable fuel tray and airflow dampers for authentic wood-fired flavor. With 1,200 square inches of total cooking area split across two independent fuel systems, this is the outdoor kitchen appliance for the serious cook who refuses to choose between convenience and flavor.

Key Features:

Gas Side:

  • Two High-Performance Coyote I-Burnersâ„¢: Propane-powered burners delivering up to 30,000 BTUs of gas grilling output — fast ignition, precise temperature control, independent zone operation
  • Push-and-Turn Ignition: Reliable, tool-free startup on both gas burners for quick lighting every use
  • Stainless Steel Heat Control Grids: Distribute heat evenly across the gas cooking surface, vaporize drippings for added flavor, and minimize flare-ups
  • Interior Grill Lighting: Hood-activated internal halogen lights for confident gas-side cooking in any lighting condition

Charcoal Side:

  • Integrated Charcoal Tray: Purpose-built tray accommodates lump charcoal or wood chips, no modification required, no add-on accessories needed
  • Adjustable Airflow Dampers: Control oxygen flow to the charcoal bed for precise temperature management, low-and-slow smoking or high-heat searing, dialed in by hand
  • Laser-Cut Signature Stainless Steel Grates: Engineered for maximum food-to-surface contact, superior heat retention, and deep sear marks on both gas and charcoal sides

Shared Features:

  • 50-Inch Dual-Fuel Format: 847 sq in primary cooking area + 353 sq in secondary area = 1,200 sq in total cooking surface split between two independent fuel systems
  • Integrated Wind Guard: Built-in wind protection maintains consistent performance on both sides in outdoor environments
  • Newly Redesigned Knobs and Bezels: Updated control panel with sleek knob and bezel styling for a modern outdoor kitchen aesthetic
  • Continuously Hand-Welded 304 Stainless Steel Construction: Seamless welded grill box on both sides, no exposed seams, no moisture intrusion, built for long-term outdoor durability
  • Cutout Dimensions: 47¾” W × 20½” D × 13″ H — confirm with your island design before ordering
  • Coyote Lifetime Warranty: Stainless steel frame and burners covered for the lifetime of the original purchaser; cooking grids 5 years; electric components 2 years

Best For:

  1. Outdoor kitchen builders who want gas and charcoal without two separate grills — one 50-inch cutout replaces what would otherwise require two separate built-in appliances and significantly more island space
  2. Flavor-first cooks who still need weeknight convenience — use the gas side for Tuesday steaks in 20 minutes; use the charcoal side on weekends for low-and-slow ribs with real wood smoke
  3. Entertainers cooking for large groups — 1,200 sq in of total cooking area across two fuel systems means different proteins cooking simultaneously on different heat sources
  4. Wood and charcoal enthusiasts who don’t want a dedicated smoker — adjustable dampers and lump charcoal or wood chip compatibility deliver genuine smoke flavor without a separate smoker unit on the island
  5. Outdoor kitchens with a large island footprint — the 50-inch format requires a substantial island; ideal for customers already planning a full outdoor kitchen build rather than a standalone grill installation

FAQ

Q1: Can I use both the gas and charcoal sides at the same time?

Yes. The gas and charcoal sides operate completely independently with separate cooking surfaces and heat systems. You can run both simultaneously. For example, searing steaks on the gas side while slow-cooking ribs over charcoal on the other side at the same time.

Q2:What type of fuel can be used on the charcoal side of the Coyote Hybrid?

The charcoal side supports standard charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal, and wood chips. The adjustable-height fuel tray lets you position the fuel closer to or farther from the cooking grates, giving you control over searing heat, low-and-slow smoking, and everything in between.

Q3: What is the total cooking area?

Total cooking area is approximately 1,200 square inches — 847 sq in primary cooking area plus 353 sq in secondary/warming rack area — split between both sides.

Q4: Is this grill available in natural gas?

Yes. The C3HY50LP is the liquid propane version. The natural gas version is the C3HY50NG. Both share identical features and dimensions — only the gas connection differs.

Q5: Does the charcoal side have a lid?

Both sides share a single integrated hood that covers the full 50-inch width. The hood is not split — it opens and closes over both cooking surfaces together.

Q6: How many BTUs does the gas side produce?

The gas side delivers 30,000 BTUs from two I-Burners — verify the exact figure in the specs section as some configurations vary.

Q7: Is a rotisserie kit available for this grill?

A rotisserie kit is not included standard with the hybrid model. This grill is designed primarily for gas and charcoal dual-fuel cooking rather than rotisserie. For rotisserie capability, consider the Coyote SL-Series which includes a rear infrared burner and rotisserie kit standard.

Q8: What warranty does this grill carry?

Coyote warrants the stainless steel frame and burners for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Cooking grids are covered for 5 years, flavorizer bars and electric/plastic components for 2 years, and ignition systems and valves for 1 year. Labor is not included.

Q9: How does ash and charcoal cleanup work?

The charcoal side has a removable tray that pulls out for ash disposal. Allow the charcoal to cool completely before removing the tray. The gas side has a standard pull-out drip tray for grease management.
